Welcome to I Heart Hygge,
A Sustainable Lifestyle blog, written and photographed by me, Belle Momo 🍑
and who am I?
I am a Freelance Photographer & Stylist, a Self-taught Gluten-free Pastry Chef & Recipe Developer, a Halfblood Dane, a Halfblood Frenchman, and a Whole Blood Human, but all those labels don’t really describe who I am, more what I do and from where I come.
Who I am is a far more complex thing and would never easily be described.
However, I am a person with many talents but at times, I am lacking patience (I’m working on that btw). I am a “whole” foodie beyond compare, a traveling soul who has lived in many countries, experienced both fairy tales and nightmares in my 30 something years on this planet. I love spontaneous sparkly adventures as well as the tranquil peace and quiet of the countryside. I am a wife and a loving mom to a cute super dude.
I am dividing the days of the year between two homes in two countries. Being a homeschooling mom and a deeply creative being at the same time.
This blog is written from my heart. It’s a blog about being true to oneself as a mother, a human, and a creative being. About making the most out of life, even if it’s a less ordinary life.
The idea of « Hygge » has always been very magical to me. Being a Half-blood Dane, makes Hygge a part of your genetic makeup, even though I had nothing close to a soothing or loving childhood in Denmark. I always longed for the magic of a “Hyggelig” atmosphere in my life. In my adult life, I have always tried to create this atmosphere of Hygge, both through my work and in my everyday life, even though the people who were close to me, often tried to ridicule and degrade this very essential part of my being. Almost sabotaging me, my confidence, my life, and my family with their ignorance.
Luckily, I am a very resilient person, and I’ve always had a strong inner voice that told me, no matter what happened in my life, I had to keep on trying, keep on moving, keep on creating beautiful, soothing and loving things, moods and foods. This is also why sustainable living is so important to me, living a sustainable life is not new to me. I’ve been doing this for more than a decade. To me, it’s like a primal calling from within, which helps me to connect with Nature. I believe it is possible to live a beautiful and prosperous life. I actually believe it enriches our life in so many ways, to go back to basics. Sustainable living is not just about eating organic, dressing in wooly clothes and reducing your co2 impact. To me it’s about finding balance in your entire life, balance in your daily consumption is just the top of the iceberg, really.
I believe we are in need of a paradigm shift, if we want to make a lasting change, we need to learn to respect the earth as a part of us. As well as respecting and accepting each other, for who we really are without prejudice, and not to forget; we need to appreciate all the little things that cannot be bought in a shop.
To me, Hygge is a feeling of belonging, that I never felt as a child myself. The feeling of being golden, cozy, safe, warm, at home and surrounded by true LOVE. It’s not woolen socks or blankets, however, there is nothing wrong with cozying up in front of a fire with blankets and hot chocolate, but it’s only Hygge if you have someone to share it with or a place that makes you feel like you belong.
This is a blog about my sincerest endeavor in life, creating sustainable Hygge & Beauty around me and embracing those I love with precisely that ♥️
Thanks for reading…
Have a Magical Day✨
