Welcome to my personal Hygge nook 🎈
My name is Belle Milly Peach, I am a Danish/French Freelance Photographer & Stylist. I Love snapping magical moments of “Hygge”, Joy and Portraying people as they are. I have worked as a Stylist (Weddings, Make-up/Hair, Interior & Food) for almost 20 years by now. So… creating beauty and lovely surroundings, is a big part of who I am.
I am a very playful and creative person, in my work I tend to focus on the beauty of everyday life, real people, real places and the magical and positive moments In life. I strive for Balance and therefore I Love to “Hygge”. It’s not a new thing for me, I have been doing it for several decades by now, being Danish and all. I Believe we need to appreciate all the little things in life, especially those that cannot be easily defined, measured, branded or bought in a shop.
Hygge is a feeling that is very difficult to define, to me it is a feeling of belonging, that I seldomly felt as a child myself. The feeling of being truly accepted in the company of others. Being with people or in a moment that makes you forget about time, place and all your worries. It often appears when you feel golden, cozy, safe, warm, at home and surrounded by true LOVE. I also believe that to achieve “Hygge” you have to let go of control. Hygge is often a feeling that suddenly appears, it cannot be planned for and it’s a “being present in the moment” kind of thing, it’s fleeting but oh so dear. It cannot be gained by woolen socks, mugs or blankets as some authors tend to promote. Not that there is anything wrong with cozying up in front of a fire, with a warm blanket and a hot cuppa, it’s cozy but it’s only Hygge if you have someone dear to share it with or a surrounding that makes you feel like you belong, to that exact moment in time. All my Hygge memories belongs to an exact moment in time, they can’t be copied or repeated, it simply won’t work even though people often try, not that it cannot be a “Hyggelig” time but it will never be the same, and that’s why I believe, that my best possible definition of “Hygge” would be something like this: Hygge is like a sparkle of magic that lits up your heart for a limited moment in time, it can be for a mere second or for hours, you will always know when it’s there and when it’s not. It usually don’t last for days, it comes and goes, but it’s very memorable.
I often see “recipes” for Hygge, posted on FB pages or Pinterest, they always make me smile, but I really don’t believe there is a recipe that will bring you Hygge. I believe it’s impossible to plan, something as magical as Hygge, you can always try but it’s never guaranteed that Hygge will appear and lit up your heart. However, I do believe that there are certain things you can do to promote Hygge, like “Hygge places”. These are very personal places, that makes you feel connected to something good within yourself, it can be in your home but it can also be in a certain coffee shop, a museum, a park, a summer house, a forest, a beach or another place that you love and have happy memories from. Hygge tends to appear when there is a favorable and balanced connection between your Heart, Nature, Seasons, People, Beautiful Surroundings, Scrumptious Food, Inner Peace, Joy & Magic.
My sincerest endeavor in life, is to create a truly connected and “Hyggelig” visual story. A story that you can feel engaged in and drawn to. To encapsulate the essence of “Hygge” and that familiar warmth and magical sparkle, Hygge truly is.
